Every project is different, and so is the point at which our clients bring us in. You might have a completed set of drawings ready to price, a concept that needs to be developed and built, or a project that needs experienced management on the client’s side. MDB can provide the individual service you need or manage the project from initial concept through to construction and handover.
Schools and education facilities, health and medical, industrial and warehousing, aged care, service stations and commercial fit-out. We build for government through QBuild, for private schools and community organisations directly, and for developers. We hold an open builder’s licence, so height isn’t a limitation. And we price thoroughly and transparently, identifying scope gaps and risks early rather than relying on variations later.
Our point of difference, and the one to call us about first. Before pricing anything, we review the job from the foundations up, because the structure is where the money is: what’s over-engineered, what can be simplified, how it should be sequenced. It’s rarely small money. On a recent project the tender came back over budget, so we reworked the structure with our engineer’s sign-off and brought it back to budget. On another, wet ground blocked access, so we poured the slab first and craned the precast in later, saving three weeks. Bring us in as early as you can.
One point of accountability, not ten. We take responsibility for the programme, the consultants, the approvals and the trades, and we status every project weekly — because a month is too long to wait to find out you’ve lost time. When acting client-side, we represent the client’s interests and coordinate the project team from planning and procurement through construction and handover.
We assemble the design team and manage it: architects, structural engineers, services engineers, facade engineering and safety in design, all coordinated for buildability and sequence and carried through development approval and building approval. Value management options come as part of it, not as an extra.
Interiors are led by Sarah Wood Designs, part of the MDB team. Sarah works with clients from early concept through to the last fitting and finish, which is one of the reasons our clients tend to stay closely involved right through a build.
